Pelican Products developed the Pelican 1400 case because of the need and constant demand for an indestructible case that can go anywhere. Anywhere you can go this 1400 case can come which for you means so can your equipment. The case itself is a waterproof case and will prevent water penetration, even when submerged. The secret to the 1400 waterproof design is an o ring seal. The Pelican 1400 case also features a purge valve which allows air into the case, but keeps moisture and dust out. The reason for this feature on the Pelican 1400 case is so that opening the case in high altitudes is easy. (Otherwise the lid of the Pelican 1400 would be stuck shut)

The Pelican 1400 case is made of an incredibly lightweight space-age resin: ultra high impact structural copolymer polypropylene, that provides 4 times the strength to weight ratio over conventional injection molding. The 1400 case is unaffected by dents, scratches or corrosion. Pelican Products has manufactured the 1400 case to meet MIL-STD 4150-H stacking (400 lbs.) Drop Test (48"), Immersion (2" at 160�F). The Pelican 1400 Case meets and far exceeds the highest standards of industrial, airline, military and commercial applications. Put it this way- The Pelican 1400 case will remain functional in just about any environment it's exposed to. The Pelican 1400 case has multiple massive ABS Latches and .250 neoprene closed cell "O Ring," which provides up to 30 feet watertight, crushproof and air tightness for the ultimate protection.
